National Library of Virtual Manipulatives The National Library of Virtual Minipulatives is a great resource for teaching math for all grade levels. The website is broken up into content area and grade level. They have manipulatives for number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, and data analysis/probability for grades k-12. Instead of showing students how to use a manipulative on a projector, I plan on using virtual manipulatives. Students will use a physical manipulative while I show them how to use it with the virtual manipulative. I would also like to use this resource during centers. Elementary students often get off task and sometimes abuse manipulatives (by throwing them, hitting each other, etc.) Having the students use the virtual manipulatives during centers will help them stay on task.

Geogebra Geogebra is an online math tool that has multiple different uses. I think it's a great site for focusing on geometry but it has many other uses as well! The feature I would utilize the most would be the graphing calculator and the "Geogebra Geometry". For the graphing calculator feature, I would obviously use when we were learning about graphing. I would also use this for basic math so that students would not have to provide their own graphing calculator for class. For the geometry feature, Geogebra allows students to create their own shape. I would like to use this as an "explore" for geometry. I would tell students to create a shape with... (four right angles, a polygon, a convex shape, a concave shape, etc.) Geogebra allows for the geometry section to be saved and printed. Students could print their work and I could use it as a formative assessment.

Nearpod When thinking about teaching math, Nearpod probably isn't what most teachers think of. However, Nearpod is a great resource for math education! For those of you who don't know, Nearpod is basically an interactive power point presentation. Personally, when I think about math lessons, I typically do not think about power points. So the question is, how can teachers use Nearpod in math lessons? Like I said earlier, Nearpod is interactive. I would use the "Draw It" Section to see how students solve a problem. For example, if I made a "Draw It" slide for 10+25, this is what I could expect to see from some students using Nearpod. Nearpod allows the teacher to show student work on all of the students' screens. Therefore, I could show examples of how different students solved different 10+25 differently. Yummy Math - This website uses videos, images, and realistic situations to show how the information you're learning can be used in real life.   Ted Ed Mathematics  This website has many resources for teachers. The resources includes videos and activities based on content area. Kentucky Numeracy Project  This website has lesson ideas categorized by grade level and standard. PBIS World  This website is not math related. However, it's a great resource for teachers regardless of grade level or content. This website gives a multitude of interventions. ALL teachers will have students with IEPs and 504s in their classroom. Adapting for Autism  This website is also not math related. It is a wonderful resource to help teachers adapt content and the classroom environment for students with autism. This website includes schedules, visuals, and tips.

A lot of parents wonder why common core requires students to learn how to solve math problems in a new and unfamiliar way compared to how parents learned how to solve the same problems. I thought this video did a good job of explaining why it is important for us to teach math through common core.

A lot of students don't like math because of their misunderstanding of it. This video shows the importance of getting students to enjoy and understand math at an early age.

Ted Talks are always a great resource for teaching! This specific Ted Talk discusses the Five Principles of Extraordinary Math Teaching.

I absolutely love this idea when it comes to teaching math to students. A lot of times, it's hard to catch what students are doing wrong when it comes to solving mathematics. However, this strategy helps teachers identify problem areas and work it out in front of the class.
